Busting Common Myths about Pheromone Supplements
I know this isn’t about relaxation or mediation, but I want to address this as I’m sick and tired of reading things about Pheromone supplements. I’m a biomedical engineer so I feel like I know what I’m talking about writing about this. If I can get five men to not buy these products, my writing was worth it… So I hope nobody minds me doing this post…
Pheromone Supplements receive plenty of attention. They are advertised everywhere and men seem to be buying the products in gallons hoping for immediate results. Somehow they think that the pheromones are the answer to all their female problems.
But there are many myths associated with pheromone supplements so we have a compiled a small list:
MYTH #1
People are attracted to others by smell and pheromone supplements help to make an individual more popular.
This is simply not true. Humans do not choose friends or mates based on smell. If someone stinks badly, the person will not have anything to do with him/her but the converse is not true. Just because someone smells good does not compel others to want to be friends.
MYTH #2
Pheromone supplements will make one irresistible to the opposite sex.
Again another fallacy. Pheromones are just scents and scents are everywhere. They can be found in flowers, plants, clothing, animals, and other people. Perfume companies have been making scents forever with substances from different plants and people do not find others irresistible. Yes they might be turned on and yes they might love the smell in a sexual context but they are not driven to make mad passionate love because the perfume smells nice.
MYTH #3
Pheromone supplements will attract the same sex.
How can this be possible? The scientific and genetic reason for pheromones is breeding. If pheromone supplements are supposed to work based on long established biological instincts, then logically they do not work for attracting the same sex as same sexes in humans do not breed.
MYTH #4
All pheromone supplements are the same.
Different companies produce different products. Much in the same way that herbs are different based on how they are manufactured and how much real product is used, pheromones may be watered down rendering them ineffective or they may be nothing more than a sweet scent.
MYTH #5
Companies are claiming that their products are made from highly concentrated human pheromones.
While it might be plausible that a manufacturer may duplicate pheromones, but where would they get actual pheromone from which to make their products?
MYTH #6
Scientific studies show that pheromones attract the opposite sex.
While this fact is true for animals, plants and insects and was once true for humans, humans have now evolved to a point where they do not mate and breed like animals. They use other senses and other factors to find their mates.
Lastly, most of the reasons for purchasing pheromones have been developed for commercial reasons. Companies wishing to profit from an individual’s needs, desires and fantasies have taken legitimate scientific knowledge and turned it into something that translates into immediate pure raw sex.

Tammy,
I think you may have a valid point…. People have developed an alternative instinct, as to what is attractive to each person individually. For example; I was slightly attracted to your picture. I was even more attracted to you because of your name. And I cant begin to explain how attracted I was to your advanced vocabulary. Kinda turns me on… Is that wrong? Makes me want to know what you taste like? How’s that for a pick up line… Im done… thanx 4 your time!!
I appreciate your opinion and background, but I’ve had some pretty good experiences using pheromone colognes. I’ve also read some pretty compelling stuff from others as well using pheromones.
Cheers, James G.
